He has served since 1979 in local churches, nursing homes, and prisons, and he holds a Doctor of Ministry degree. For decades he has read the Old Testament each year and the New Testament twice each year, which keeps his teaching soaked in Scripture rather than personal opinion.

He has preached verse by verse through many books of the Bible and walks with people through depression, anxiety, family strain, and questions about today's world.
